President’s Message

May 2019 Newsletter

Last week, MEA hosted its annual Soiree, and we raised $6,470.95 for our seniors next year. Since we started having this event, the MEA has raised $32,476.96. On Honor’s Day this year, MEA will be awarding $7,200 to seven graduating seniors. Thank you for participating in this event and supporting our students.

Before we break for summer, I wanted to inform you of some upcoming communication
changes for next year. We, the Officers of MEA, have spent numerous meetings this year discussing how we involve and communicate with our members, as we want to quickly and efficiently communicate pertinent information. For one of these changes, this will be the last newsletter. Thank you to Nicki Rucci-Macauda for putting it together for so many years. With Nicki’s resignation as MEA Vice President, Certified, it is a natural end point. We also believe that our members are busy (very busy) and appreciate information in quick chunks.

Moving forward, we will be communicating with you in the following ways:
 Direct emails from the MEA President through both District and personal emails.
 Text messages through Remind. If you would like to receive these texts, please sign up for it by texting @mayfielded to 81010. You can opt-out of messages at any time by
replying, “unsubscribe @mayfielded.”
 Posts on MEA Facebook. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/MayfieldEducationAssociation.
 Posts on Instagram coming in the fall. In the fall, we are going to begin our listening tours via one-to-one questionnaires in preparation for bargaining in 2022. We would love to hear your feedback on these changes and look forward to listening to your other concerns.

I hope that you have a restful and memorable summer.

John Sullivan
